About me

Hi! I’m Chloe Jamir, and together with my husband Conrad, we’re passionate about empowering families and individuals through education. As veteran homeschoolers, we’ve seen firsthand how the growing popularity of homeschooling can leave first-time families feeling baffled and unsure of where to begin. When friends and family kept turning to us with questions about how to get started, we decided to share our insights with a broader audience. Combining my love for research with Conrad’s technical expertise, we created Slatespot—a resource designed to provide prospective homeschoolers with a clear, practical framework to embark on their homeschooling journey. Our goal is to simplify what can feel like an overwhelming process and support families as they take their first steps.

In addition to our work with homeschooling, I’m also a dedicated Barton tutor, specializing in helping individuals with dyslexia to read through a structured literacy approach (commonly known as the Orton‑Gillingham method)." Research shows that this method—teaching phonics systematically and explicitly—can be transformative for dyslexic learners, ensuring they aren’t left to figure things out on their own (Shaywitz 202). The Barton Reading & Spelling System®, which I use, is specifically designed for dyslexia and consists of 10 levels. Depending on factors like the severity of a student’s dyslexia or their ability to focus, completing the program typically takes two to four years. One-on-one tutoring is the most effective way to address each student’s unique strengths and weaknesses, and I offer both in-person sessions (for those within 15 minutes of my home in Huntington Beach, California) and remote online tutoring as a flexible, high-quality alternative.

Whether we’re helping families navigate homeschooling through Slatespot or supporting students with dyslexia through personalized tutoring, Conrad and I are committed to making education accessible and empowering. If you’re curious about homeschooling, check out Slatespot for a solid starting point. If you’d like to learn more about the Barton Reading & Spelling System, I recommend visiting Susan Barton’s website—or feel free to contact me directly to discuss in-person or remote tutoring options. I’d love to answer your questions and help you on your journey!
